Project Description

The second set of residential house plans I designed early in my career back in 2003 is situated off Elwren Road in Solsberry, Indiana, west of Bloomington. Despite my efforts, I still struggle to pinpoint the exact location of the structure. However, I do recall it being tucked away in the rural countryside, fulfilling the owner’s desire for privacy. In fact, it’s so secluded that even I have trouble locating it!

As a side note, I’ve been asked about the road name where the house is situated. Some years back, I conducted historical research on an abandoned farmhouse that once stood in the area, and the child who lived there later settled on Elwren Road. As far as I remember, the name “Elwren” originates from the property owners in the vicinity who needed a name for the road that linked all their parcels. They cleverly integrated the letters of each parcel owner’s last name into the final road name, resulting in E.L.W.R.E.N. (EL for Eller, W for Whaley, R from Baker, and EN for the Breeden family).
